a propos of virtue i present you taoism in a nutshell

1. Wu Xing: Tao moves in cycles.

What is high will be low. What is low will be high.

Everything changes while remaining the same.

There is no rule by which to foresee the future. Accept the Tao of things.

If one has Tao, then one becomes Te (virtue). The ideal life for the individual and the ideal order for society and government are based on and guided by it.

Te = harmony with the nature.

One who understand the the dominating character of the male yet keeps to the passive nature of the female, behaves properly. Te produces but does not possess, cares but does not control; it leads but does not subjugate.

3- Tao has a 5-point method:

1- Non-action (wu-wei): "when nothing is done, nothing is left undone"

Because of its importance, I intend to explain wu-wei in more detail in my next post.1-

2- Simplicity"the ultimate good is like water" & silence:

Behave simply. Hold on to purity.

3- Spontaneity: ziran, zi (自) "self, oneself, since & ran (然) right, correct, yes,

"follow the trail not often followed"

4- Tranquility: pinyin, combines qing 清 "pure; clean, fresh, cool; and jing: 靜 "still, silent, calm.

"The quiet amidst the noise. Calmness during crisis."

5- Flexibility: 灵活性 Línghuó xìng.

"be a blade of grass"
